Lok Sabha Secretariat: Reports of Jamaican PM’s carcade stopped outside Parliament are ‘incorrect’

The Lok Sabha Secretariat has denied reports that Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness’s carcade was stopped at the Parliament House gates on Thursday. The Secretariat clarified that PM Holness received the appropriate protocol and facilitation during his visit.

In a statement, the Lok Sabha Secretariat said, Media reports claiming that the Jamaican Prime Minister’s carcade was halted at the gates of Parliament are factually incorrect. He was accorded due protocol and facilitation.

During his visit, PM Holness and his delegation toured the two Chambers, Constitution Hall, Galleries, and other significant areas in the new Parliament Building. They also visited the Central Hall in Samvidhan Sadan. Earlier, Holness participated in the Ganga Aarti in Varanasi, where he was joined by Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna.

PM Holness expressed his appreciation for India’s rich cultural heritage during his visit to the Trade Facilitation Centre, Craft Museum, and Sarnath Museum. He emphasized his intention to deepen bilateral relations between Jamaica and India, acknowledging India’s rapid economic growth and innovation.

Holness remarked, The purpose of my visit is to strengthen our bilateral ties. Jamaica wants to cooperate with India, especially as it continues to grow as a global leader. His visit marks a significant milestone in fostering cooperation and enhancing historical ties between the two nations.
