Praniti Shinde accuses BJP, RSS of opposing the flag and Constitution
New Delhi
Congress MP Praniti Shinde criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday, condemning his remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar and accusing the BJP and RSS of always opposing the Indian flag and Constitution. She demanded that Shah apologize and resign for his comments, stating, BJP and RSS have always hated the tricolour and the Constitution. We strongly condemn this.
Amit Shah's remarks during a Rajya Sabha debate on Tuesday, marking 75 years of the Constitution, sparked controversy. He suggested that opposition leaders had made taking Ambedkar's name a fashion, and mocked them for not mentioning God as often as they invoked Ambedkar's name.
Opposition MPs, led by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, protested Shah’s remarks, calling for his dismissal. Kharge also urged Prime Minister Modi to sack Shah if he truly respected Ambedkar, stating that his comments were an insult to Dalits and a sign that the BJP-led government didn’t believe in the Constitution.
In response, PM Modi defended Shah, claiming his remarks exposed Congress' history of undermining Ambedkar and neglecting SC/ST communities. Modi accused Congress of failing to empower these communities during its long rule, further fueling tensions between the BJP and Congress.
