Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court for pausing bulldozer demolitions across India until October 1. He criticized the BJP for glorifying bulldozers as a tool of justice, arguing that their use was intended to instill fear and suppress dissent.
“Bulldozers can’t be justice. They were used unconstitutionally to scare people and silence opposition,” Yadav stated. He called bulldozers a “symbol of injustice” and welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision, hoping it would ensure that justice is served through proper legal channels rather than force.
The Supreme Court recently ordered a halt to property demolitions nationwide without its permission until October 1. This ruling excludes unauthorized structures on public roads, footpaths, and similar areas. A bench led by Justices B.R. Gavai and K.V. Viswanathan issued this directive while reviewing petitions challenging the bulldozing of properties.
Yadav also congratulated Atishi for becoming the new Chief Minister of Delhi. He praised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the decision and expressed confidence in her leadership. Earlier, AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal had proposed Atishi as his successor, following his announcement to step down as Delhi’s Chief Minister and call for early elections in November.
