Two senior members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) were “neutralized” by Turkish gendarmerie and police in Diyarbakir province, according to a cabinet minister on Tuesday. Zirav Tas, known as Hebun Piro Amed, and Fehmi Baskurt, known as Botan, were killed in operations in the Lice district. Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared the news on X, without disclosing the exact timing of the operations.
Tas was listed in the red category of the Interior Ministry’s list, and Baskurt was in the grey category. They were implicated in six attacks resulting in the deaths of three security officers and five civilians. A video of the operations, which involved helicopters and drones, was released by the minister. The PKK is designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.
