The National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has launched the Campus Gate meet campaign to address various student issues and bring them to the attention of the state government. The campaign will be conducted across all districts in the state, starting with Dakshina Kannada and continuing until the end of September. Afterward, it will be expanded to other districts.
One of the key concerns raised is the lack of bus services in rural villages, which affects students’ transportation. Additionally, many students are unable to receive scholarships. The introduction of the National Education Policy (NEP) has caused difficulties for students due to its perceived shortcomings.
As part of the campaign, Google forms will be distributed among students to collect their grievances. These grievances will then be classified into state level, district level, or college management level issues. Efforts will be made to resolve the concerns through appropriate channels.
If the issues require government intervention, they will be reported to the relevant minister. The state government will be urged to address the shortage of permanent teaching faculty in Mangalore University and to resolve issues related to the UUCMS portal, which has caused confusion among students.
The state government has allocated Rs 100 crore to the D Devaraj Urs Backward Classes Development Corporation for development projects, and an action plan for student welfare will be developed after consultations with the student community.
