Former Chief Minister and MP Jagadish Shettar remarked on the ongoing debate about a potential change in the state’s Chief Minister. He noted that discussions about a leadership change within the Congress party are now being held openly. According to Shettar, while Congress leaders and ministers publicly support Siddaramaiah as Chief Minister, there are private discussions about replacing him, leading to what he described as numerous Chief Ministers emerging from within Congress.

Shettar criticized the state government for its involvement in scams related to MUDA and Valmiki Corporation. He predicted that the Congress party would face defeat in the state and that the government would collapse due to its own mismanagement. He stated that there is no need for an ‘Operation Lotus’ to address the issue, as Congress MLAs and ministers are already undermining each other.

Regarding the financial state of the Belagavi Municipal Corporation, Shettar acknowledged that he alone could not resolve its financial issues. He emphasized the need for broader discussions and collective decision-making. Shettar attributed the problems to negligence by the authorities and expressed regret over the lack of control over officials, which he believes has contributed to the financial difficulties.
