To engage women voters before the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, the MahaYuti government has decided to extend the registration period for the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana into September. This scheme, which aims to empower women and enhance their self-reliance, has already provided Rs 1,500 monthly financial aid to around 1.60 crore women since July.
The original registration deadline was August 31, but a new government resolution allows enrollment to continue through September. Women and Child Development Minister Aditi Tatkare urged eligible women to register, emphasizing that participation is key to being a part of this empowering initiative.
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde recently announced that Rs 4,787 crore has been deposited into the accounts of women under this scheme for July, August, and September. He also promised to increase the monthly aid to Rs 3,000 if re-elected. Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar supported this, with Pawar pledging an additional Rs 1 lakh per woman over the next five years. The MahaYuti government is committed to supporting 2.50 crore women with this financial aid, despite opposition criticism.
