Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde highlighted the significance of e-governance, noting its role in swiftly disbursing the first two instalments of Rs 1,500 each to eligible women beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana. He emphasized that e-governance is more than technology, adding that it is a tool for changing mindsets, promoting transparency, and building trust in the administration. He also mentioned that property registration related to buying and selling houses is now possible at any deputy registrar’s office in Maharashtra, thanks to e-governance.

Speaking at the 27th National Conference on e-governance titled ‘Developed India: Safe and Sustainable e-Service Delivery’, CM Shinde stated that the state is following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s minimum government, maximum governance approach. The Chief Minister’s Secretariat is already functioning through the e-office system, with plans to extend this to other ministries. Additionally, all services are offered online under Seva Adhikar.

A central registration centre has been established at the Mantralaya entrance to streamline processes and save time. Shinde also announced plans to develop a data centre hub in Navi Mumbai. Maharashtra, being the first state to implement an e-governance system, is looking to integrate artificial intelligence in sectors like industry, agriculture, and health to reduce administrative delays and make governance more inclusive and citizen-centric. The General Administration Department was also renamed to ‘Administrative Innovation, Excellence and Good Governance’ to reflect these changes.
