On the second day of the 1st Hockey India Junior Men & Women Inter-Zone Championships 2024, East Zone, SAI Bal, and West Zone secured wins in the Women’s category matches in Ranchi, while East Zone and North Zone emerged victorious in the Men’s matches held in Lucknow.
In Ranchi, the Women’s matches started with East Zone narrowly defeating North Zone 1-0, thanks to a late goal by Roshni Aind in the 54th minute. SAI Bal followed with a 1-0 victory over the Academy, with Kumari Peetambari scoring early in the fourth quarter. West Zone dominated South Zone with a 6-0 win, with goals from Kajal (16′), Samiksha Yadav (41′), Dhaware Sukanya (45′), and a double from Sanika Chandrakant Mane (51′, 54′) along with a goal from Patel Sneha (52′).
In Lucknow, East Zone beat South Zone 3-1 in the Men’s category. Ricky Tonjam scored twice (12′, 23′) and Abhishek Tigga added another (15′), while South Zone’s Dodium Subramanyam Hemanth Kumar netted a consolation goal in the 31st minute. North Zone defeated West Zone 6-2, with goals from Singh Jobanpreet (8′), Rajveer Singh (28′, 59′), Rohit Singh (34′), and Lovenoor Singh (38′, 53′). West Zone’s Karan Kumar Sahu (39′) and Captain Tushar Parmar (57′) also found the net.
Notably, on Sunday, North Zone edged past SAI Bal 3-2 in a Men’s Pool A match, with late goals from Khan Fahad and Singh Jobanpreet turning the game in their favor.
