Minister Priyank Kharge stated that the Chief Minister’s claim of 21 scams occurring during the BJP government’s tenure is just the beginning, with investigations set to continue until they reach their legal conclusion. Kharge assured that there should be no doubts about the thoroughness of the investigations.
Responding to allegations that the Covid scam report was influenced under pressure at the Sadashivanagar residence, Kharge clarified that the report was not pressured. He questioned if there was anything wrong in urging the investigating agencies to expedite the investigation. Kharge stated that there was no pressure to release an interim report during the Covid crisis, and he noted that the contents of the report were unknown to them, raising concerns about how others might know its details.
He addressed the involvement of central government agencies in assisting with the investigation, emphasizing that all cases will be pursued to their legal conclusion. The interim report on the Covid scam was released, though it was noted that there might be significant process losses and omissions by the authorities. Kharge remarked that while the report indicated some illegality, official details remain incomplete.
Kharge expressed concerns that evidence related to the Covid scam might have been destroyed or hidden by authorities, potentially delaying the investigation. He urged that the interim report be reviewed by the cabinet and reassured that the government is serious about addressing the issue.
