In Raghunath Nagar, Bhubaneswar, a minor has been arrested for hacking a man to death after being scolded for harassing a girl. The victim, 30-year-old Jagat Mallik, was an auto driver from Suka Vihar. On Wednesday night, as Mallik was returning home from a cultural event, the minor and an accomplice stopped his vehicle near his house. Following a heated argument, the minor attacked Mallik with a sword, leaving him severely injured. Mallik was rushed to AIIMS, Bhubaneswar, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The minor, a Class 12 student, and his associate have been detained by police. Bhubaneswar’s Deputy Commissioner of Police, Prateek Singh, revealed that the minor was seeking revenge after feeling insulted by Mallik’s warning regarding his unwanted advances towards the victim’s niece. The police are currently verifying the minor’s age and investigating past threats related to the incident.
