Michal Spiczko, President of the Kabaddi Federation of Poland, is optimistic about Kabaddi’s inclusion in the 2036 Olympics. He also hopes that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will advocate for India to host the 2036 Games and promote indigenous sports like Kabaddi.
Spiczko’s optimism came after a meeting with PM Modi in Warsaw. Spiczko praised Modi for his role in building the stadium in Ahmedabad, where Spiczko played during the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup. He believes Modi’s leadership could help India strengthen its position in sports, including Kabaddi, and hopes for its inclusion in the 2036 Olympics.
During the meeting, PM Modi acknowledged Spiczko and Board member Anna Kalbarczyk for their efforts in advancing Kabaddi in Poland and raising its profile in Europe. He emphasized the importance of sports in enhancing bilateral relations and cultural exchange between India and Poland.
In his address to the Indian community in Warsaw, Modi highlighted the connection between India and Poland through Kabaddi. He noted that Kabaddi, a popular sport in India, has gained prominence in Poland, which has been the European champion for two consecutive years. Modi wished success for the upcoming Kabaddi championship, hosted by Poland for the first time.
Poland’s national team made headlines by qualifying for the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup in Ahmedabad and defeating the reigning champions, Iran. Polish players Michal Spiczko and Piotr Pamulak have also competed in India’s Pro Kabaddi League, further strengthening the sport’s international ties.
