U17 World Wrestling Championships: Indian women wrestlers win four gold medals

Indian women wrestlers excelled at the U17 World Wrestling Championships, winning four gold medals and proudly raising the national flag. Mansi Lather (73 kg), Pulkit (65 kg), Neha Sangwan (57 kg), and Aditi Kumari (43 kg) each claimed top honors, according to source.

India has now won a total of six medals in the championship, including two bronze medals by Ronak Dahiya (110 kg Greco-Roman) and Sainath Pardhi (51 kg Greco-Roman). The tournament, held at the Princess Sumaya Bint al-Hasan Arena in Amman, Jordan, began on August 19 and will conclude on August 25.

The competition features events across all wrestling disciplines: men’s freestyle, Greco-Roman, and women’s freestyle, each with medals in 10 weight categories. India is competing in 29 of the 30 available medal events, with entries in 10 Greco-Roman, 10 men’s freestyle, and 9 women’s freestyle categories.

Last year’s championships saw India secure one gold, seven silver, and three bronze medals, totaling 11 medals. Following Mansi Lather’s victory, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini extended congratulations to her.

The Indian roster for the U17 World Wrestling Championships 2024 includes:

– Men’s Freestyle: Shivam (45kg), Harsh (48kg), Kartik (51kg), Jaiveer Singh (55kg), Sitender (60kg), Sagar (65kg), Nishant Ruhil (71kg), Vevik (80kg), Sunny (92kg), Jaspooran Singh (110kg)

– Greco-Roman: Kedar Kamble (45kg), Bikash Kacchap (48kg), Sainath Pardhi (51kg), Samarth Mhakave (55kg), Gaurav (60kg), Anuj (65kg), Sachin Kumar (71kg), Nishant Phogat (80kg), Lucky (92kg), Ronak Dahiya (110kg)

– Women’s Freestyle: Bala Raj (40kg), Aditi Kumari (43kg), Shrutika Patil (46kg), Muskan (53kg), Neha Sangwan (57kg), Rajnita (61kg), Pulkit (65kg), Kajal (69kg), Mansi Lather (73kg).
