A lower-ranking officer of the Jammu and Kashmir Police was found dead in Srinagar on Saturday. Assistant Sub-Inspector Mohammad Shafi, stationed at the Ahmad Nagar police station was discovered unconscious in his room. Colleagues rushed him to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Authorities have launched an inquiry to determine the cause of death. After completing medico-legal formalities, the body will be returned to the family for final rites.
