World Organ Donation Day was observed at KMC Hospital, with the primary objective of raising global awareness about the need for organ donors. The aim was to educate communities about organ donation and to dispel myths surrounding the process. This year’s theme, ‘Celebrating Donor Heroes,’ focused on recognizing the efforts of donors who have given the gift of life to their loved ones.
The issue of organ shortages was highlighted as a critical global concern. The day was dedicated to raising awareness about the need for organ donation, eligibility criteria, and clarifying clinical and legal aspects. KMC Hospital announced the milestone of 75 successful kidney transplants.
Three living donors were honored for their generosity and the significant impact they have had on the lives of recipients. The event also recognized the continuous support provided by traffic police and city police, particularly in facilitating cadaver organ transplants by creating green corridors and ensuring zero traffic for transporting harvested organs across the state.
The efforts made by KMC Hospital in spreading awareness about organ donation were appreciated by the authorities. The day served as an opportunity to honor the selflessness of organ donors and the vital role of law enforcement in the success of organ transplants.
