The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) announced that divers have begun siphoning industrial fuel oil (IFO) from the MTKR Terranova, a tanker that sank off Bataan province on July 25. The vessel, carrying 1.4 million litres of IFO, sank near Limay town, resulting in the death of one crew member. On Wednesday, divers started siphoning oil from one of the eight tanks, each holding 175,000 litres. Preparations are underway to seal the remaining tanks for underwater siphoning. Meanwhile, divers also started removing 5,500 litres of oil from the sunken MTKR Bradley, and the PCG is cleaning up oil from the grounded MV Mirola 1.
