Law Minister HK Patil has asked the Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha (KVV Sangha) to assist the state government in creating a bill to protect the Kannada language. Speaking at the conclusion of the 135th Foundation Day celebrations of KVV Sangha, Patil stated that legislation is needed to safeguard the interests of the Kannada language and its speakers. He urged Kannada organizations, led by the Sangha, to support the government in this effort.
Patil highlighted that KVV Sangha has significantly contributed to the unification of Kannada-speaking regions into Karnataka and has consistently advocated for the rights of Kannada speakers. He called for the Sangha to continue its role as a guardian of the Kannada language.
Former Vice-Chancellor of Hampi Kannada University Mallika Ghanti criticized the state government for failing to pressure industrialists and corporate houses in Karnataka to provide reservations for Kannadigas in Group C and D jobs. She also proposed relocating the Classical Language Study Centre in Mysuru, which currently lacks a director, to Dharwad, citing the presence of many qualified professors there.
