The Academy of Comparative Philosophy and Religion (ACPR), founded by philosopher Gurudev RD Ranade in Pune in 1924 and relocated to Belagavi in 1952, is celebrating its 100th anniversary. The centenary celebrations will take place over three days, beginning from Thursday.
Mohan Bhagwat, the Chief of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), will inaugurate the centenary events. On the first day, Bhagwat will also release the complete works of Gurudev Ranade. Kamalesh Patel (Daaji), the Head of Ram Chandra Mission, will launch a profile of ACPR and its founder titled ‘Footprints on the Sands of Time’. Both Bhagwat and Patel will participate in the Agnihotra and bhajan programmes scheduled for the evening.
On Friday, a youth conference titled ‘Hope of India’ will be held at KLS KK Venugopal Auditorium. The first session will feature Vijay Sankeshwar, Chairman of VRL Group, discussing life lessons. This session will be chaired by MLA Abhay Patil. Krishna Sampagaonkar from Shanti Kuteer in Vijayapura will address the message of Swami Vivekananda to youths in the second session, which will be presided over by Anand Deshpande, Vice-Chancellor of Bagalkot University.
The final day will host a teachers’ conference called ‘Ambassadors of Values’. Prof. CM Thyagaraj, Vice-Chancellor of Rani Channamma University, will speak on guiding the teaching community towards ‘amrutkaal’ in the first session. MP Jagadish Shettar will be the chief guest, and Ram Bhandari, Chairman of AKP Foundry, will preside over the conference.
