Many villages in the district along the banks of rivers Krishna, Malaprabha, Ghataprabha, Vedaganga and Dudhganga have been completely submerged and people’s lives are worrying.

Riverside villages and fields were inundated due to release of water from Hidkal Dam and Navilutirtha Dam. The flood of Krishna River has left Chikkodi, Athani and Rayabhaga taluks in trouble. Masaguppi and Adibatti villages were completely covered with water and houses and land were submerged. Gokaka Nagar, Konnur town is flooded due to release of water from Hidkal reservoir. The district administration has been successful in shifting people to care centres.

Due to the flood of Malaprabha River and Naviluthirtha reservoir, the Tera Bazar Bridge near Ramadurga city was submerged and the communication was cut off, so the relocation of families is also a problem for the administration.

After the District Commissioner, District Incharge Minister Lakshmi Hebbalakara visited the neighborhood in Khanapur taluk. She drew the attention of the district administration after listening to the problem of the people affected by the flood of Malaprabha River.
