Delhi’s BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj raised serious concerns about the tragic incident in Old Rajinder Nagar where three UPSC aspirants lost their lives due to flooding in a coaching center’s basement, squarely blaming the Delhi government for what she termed as criminal negligence.
Expressing deep sorrow over the incident, Swaraj highlighted that drainage water inundated the basement, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of the students who had come from Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, and Kerala to prepare for the IAS exams and build their futures.
The negligence, or rather criminal negligence, of the Delhi government led to this tragic loss of lives, Swaraj stated, condemning what she described as the utter and absolute apathy of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
She criticized the AAP’s governance over the past decade, asserting that despite their control over bodies like the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) and Delhi Jal Board, drainage systems were not upgraded or maintained. According to Swaraj, local residents had repeatedly alerted authorities about drainage issues, but their pleas went unheeded.
