Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to deliver the opening address at the ‘Journey towards Viksit Bharat: A Post Union Budget 2024-25 Conference’ at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi today, as announced by the PMO on Monday.
Organized by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the conference aims to outline the government’s vision for growth and the industry’s pivotal role in achieving it. Over 1,000 participants from various sectors including industry, government, diplomatic circles, and think tanks will attend the event in person, with many others joining virtually from CII centers across India and abroad.
PM Modi had previously highlighted that the Union Budget 2024-25 will act as a catalyst to propel India to become the world’s third-largest economy. He underscored its role in fostering inclusive growth that benefits all segments of society, particularly focusing on uplifting rural areas, the impoverished, and farmers. Reflecting on the past decade, PM Modi noted that 250 million people had risen out of poverty.
The conference also follows the recent NITI Aayog meeting chaired by PM Modi with the theme ‘Viksit Bharat2047’, aimed at positioning India as a developed nation. Emphasizing the collective effort needed to achieve this ambitious goal by 2047, PM Modi stressed the importance of leveraging emerging opportunities amidst global technological and geopolitical transformations.
India has made significant economic strides, moving from being the 10th-largest economy in 2014 to the 5th-largest in 2024. With a target to reach a $30 trillion economy by 2047, the Union government is pursuing a collaborative ‘Team India’ approach involving states to realize the vision of a developed India.
