Top Indian IT firms to hire 90k freshers in FY25

Following strong earnings in the IT sector for the April-June quarter, India’s top tech companies are gearing up to hire nearly 90,000 fresh graduates in FY25.

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is set to recruit about 40,000 freshers this fiscal year, while Infosys aims to add 15,000 to 20,000 new employees. TCS, which hired 5,452 people in the first quarter of FY25, has seen a rebound in its workforce, now standing at 606,998 employees. The company’s attrition rate has also decreased to 12.1% for the quarter. TCS’s hiring strategy focuses on campus recruitment to address skill gaps.

Infosys, which reduced its fresher hiring to 11,900 in FY24 from over 50,000 in FY23, plans to recruit up to 20,000 freshers this year, depending on growth, according to CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka.

HCLTech intends to recruit over 10,000 freshers from campuses in FY25 and has recently increased its workforce to 219,401, with a net addition of 8,080 employees in the first quarter.

Wipro’s chief HR officer, Saurabh Govil, noted that the company will complete its backlog of fresher hires in FY25, aiming to onboard around 10,000 to 12,000 new employees this year. Tech Mahindra also plans to hire 6,000 fresh graduates in the current fiscal year.
