District Minister Satish Jarakiholi visited the shores of the Krishna River in Kudachi and Diggewadi villages to review the flood situation. He inspected various areas in Raibag taluk, including the submerged Kudachi-Ugar bridge on the Jamakhandi-Miraj State Highway. He sought information about water level fluctuations and later observed the flood conditions in Diggewadi village.
At Kudachi, Jarakiholi announced that precautionary measures have been taken in flood-prone areas. Vulnerable villages have been identified, and plans are in place for relocating residents if needed. He noted that a flood situation is likely if the water flow into the river reaches 3 lakh cusecs, and emphasized that the situation is being closely monitored.
The district administration has prepared to manage the flood situation with necessary measures, including the establishment of rescue teams and care centers. A total of 427 care centers have been set up, and no issues have been reported so far.
Jarakiholi also visited the family of Basavaraj Bhimappa Sagare, a farmer who committed suicide due to debt, in Diggewadi village. He directed the district administration to provide Rs 5 lakh compensation to Sagare’s wife, Shobha, and their children.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Roshan stated that villagers will be evacuated to care centers as needed. Currently, 35 boats are available, with additional boats to be brought from Karwar if required. District Superintendent of Police Dr. Bhima Shankar Guled reported that an NDRF team has been assigned to Khanapur. Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Rahul Shinde, Chikodi Assistant Commissioner Subhas Sampagamvi, Raibag Tahsildar KS Kulkarni, BUDA President Laxmanrao Chingale, and other department officials were present.
