The BJP government in Madhya Pradesh is set to implement reforms aimed at enhancing the efficiency of gram panchayats. These changes are intended to improve the management of public schemes at both the state and central levels. The Panchayat and Rural Development Department is drafting new guidelines for this purpose, which will be introduced after receiving approval from the central government.

The planned reforms will give gram panchayats the authority to create and manage their own development plans. These plans will need to be submitted to the state government for budget approval and funding allocation.

State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Prahlad Singh Patel highlighted that these reforms are designed to make panchayats more robust and self-reliant. Patel stated, We are working to strengthen the internal systems of gram panchayats.

In a meeting with panchayat representatives in Bhopal, Patel encouraged creating a competitive environment to boost development efforts. He also noted that the state government aims to ensure every panchayat has its own community center and building.

Patel highlighted the importance of effectively using the budget and financial resources provided by various schemes, with the ultimate goal of improving public welfare and satisfaction.
