The municipal corporation is grappling with a surge in dengue cases in the city, despite extensive measures such as fogging and spraying to control the spread. Concerned by the rising numbers, the civic body has identified a concerning trend related to dengue testing reports from private hospitals.
Amid reports of dengue-related deaths, there have been instances where patients tested negative for dengue in government hospitals, despite initially testing positive in private facilities. The health department has confirmed three dengue fatalities in Bengaluru thus far.
The civic body has initiated scrutiny of dengue test results from individuals who passed away in private hospitals recently. It has been observed that many NS1 tests conducted in private hospitals yielded positive results, contrasting with negative results from government labs using the same samples. This inconsistency has prompted the corporation to contemplate actions against hospitals that have issued positive reports for patients later found negative in government tests.
The corporation has urged the health department to intervene and investigate hospitals providing contradictory dengue test results. Additionally, steps are being taken to ensure accuracy and reliability in dengue diagnostics across private healthcare facilities to prevent undue panic among the public.
