Journalists are not only limited to news but are also socially involved. There is a new instance of this. Reporters have tried hard to get the young man from Tamil Nadu, who has been living on the footpath of Kukke Subrahmanya since last month, into his home.
Satish, a young man from Coimbatore, was passing the day on the roadside of Subrahmanya in rain and sun. He knows no other language except Tamil. Shivbhat, a journalist from Subrahmanya who noticed the young man, spoke despite the lack of communication. The young man responded in Tamil and said that he has been here for a month. Gram Panchayat Devleopment Officer Mahesh was immediately informed about this.
At the same time, social activist Ravi Kakkepadavu and village party member Harish Injadi arrived and with the help of some others took Satish and took him for a bath. He was treated with new clothes and food. Later on further questioning, he gave his name and explained that he has mother and sisters in Coimbatore. Then journalist Shivbhat contacted the police helpline number of Coimbatore.
Similarly, through Mahendran’s NGO, the journalist contacted the youth’s mother Saraswati and family members. At this time, the mother was in tears after hearing about her son. On the other hand, the young Satish had already been sent to the Janasnehi Sewashram in Bangalore. An attempt was made to take him to the town from there.
