On a recent trip, the crew of train No. 12619 Matsyagandha Express showed remarkable vigilance and quick thinking, preventing a serious incident. As the train approached the Barkur-Udupi section, the loco pilot and assistant loco pilot spotted a large tree blocking the tracks. They quickly applied the emergency brake, stopping the train safely after the locomotive and one coach.

The obstacle was cleared by the overhead equipment (OHE) team, allowing the train to continue its journey. In recognition of their alertness and decisive action, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) CMD Santosh Kumar Jha awarded each crew member a cash prize of Rs 15,000.
