In a significant development, the Banasawadi police have arrested two individuals involved in a series of house thefts. The arrests were made following an intensive investigation into a burglary reported at a residence in Lingarajpur, near Gangamma temple. The incident occurred on April 15, 2023, when the house was broken into and valuables including money, gold jewelry weighing 110.10 grams, and silver ornaments were stolen from a locked cupboard.
The police, acting swiftly on the complaint lodged the same day, pursued leads that culminated in the arrest of one suspect on June 27, 2024, from Janakirama layout. During interrogation, the suspect disclosed that the stolen items were handed over to his accomplice, leading to the subsequent arrest of the second suspect on July 5, 2024, who was already in custody under the Goonda Act at KGF Jail.
From the residence of the accused in Bawa, located in the jurisdiction of the Banasawadi police station, authorities recovered stolen assets including 110.10 grams of gold, 4 two-wheelers, 2 laptops, and 7 mobile phones, collectively valued at Rs 14,37,000/-. Both suspects were presented before the court on July 8, 2024, and remanded to judicial custody.
The arrests shed light on the extent of their criminal activities, with multiple cases registered against the primary accused at various police stations, including house thefts and vehicle thefts in Avalalli, Kadugodi, and Kodigehalli police stations.
