MP Vishweshwar Hegade Kageri has called on the central government to address the Valmiki Corporation scam with seriousness and issue appropriate directions. In a statement made in the Delhi Lok Sabha on Monday, Kageri highlighted that money collected from taxes for the corporation was misappropriated. He stated that this money, intended for the scheduled community, was transferred to benami accounts and not used for its intended purpose, affecting welfare activities.
The Chief Minister is overseeing the finance department, which Kageri described as misuse of the administrative system. The government has admitted that the funds were transferred through the treasury. The Valmiki Development Corporation, part of the Scheduled Caste Welfare Department of Karnataka State, is accused of misappropriating Rs 187 crore. It was reported that this amount was deposited in benami accounts.
Kageri also noted that various administrative issues have arisen in Karnataka, with development activities being neglected. Despite these problems, he acknowledged Karnataka’s achievements in various fields. He emphasized that Karnataka and Bangalore have performed well globally.
