Complaint filed against Mantri group over persistent power issues

Must read

Owners of 106 flats at Mantri Serenity Apartments on Doddakallasandra Road have lodged a formal complaint at Subrahmanyapur police station against Vista Castle Pvt Ltd, a unit of the Mantri Group. The complaint follows recurring power disruptions that have plagued residents, with the latest incident being a four-hour power outage imposed by BESCOM on Saturday afternoon, subsequently restored under the condition of pending disconnection on Monday morning.

The apartment complex, comprising 1,500 families across 17 blocks in a 27-storey structure, has been grappling with intermittent power supply issues for nearly two years. R. Ramanujam, speaking on behalf of the affected flat owners and the association, stated that promises made upon occupancy of permanent electricity supply have not been fulfilled, leaving residents reliant on temporary arrangements.

Despite regular payment of electricity bills by Vista to BESCOM through Propcare Real Estate Management Pvt, the issue persists with notices from BESCOM for a permanent connection. On July 19, power to 17 blocks was abruptly cut at 2 pm and reinstated by 6:30 pm, accompanied by a warning of further disconnection within 60 hours, prompting the filing of the complaint.

Residents have expressed severe concerns, citing instances where senior citizens were trapped in lifts for extended periods during outages, posing significant risks to their safety. Urgent resolution of these issues is demanded to alleviate ongoing fears and ensure reliable power supply.

Efforts to seek comment from Mantri Group representatives were unsuccessful, with a scheduled meeting canceled due to unforeseen circumstances and subsequent attempts yielding no response. In response, a resident protested at the marketing office of Mantri Serenity, leading to its closure for the day.
