Director James Gunn has announced that filming in Cleveland for the upcoming superhero movie ‘Superman’ is complete, signaling that the project is nearing its final stages ahead of its expected release next summer.
Gunn shared his gratitude on Instagram, praising Cleveland for its hospitality and the enthusiastic support from its residents. Cleveland, we are leaving you after six amazing weeks of shooting, Gunn wrote. From the moment we first came here on a scout a tad less than a year ago and Terminal Tower was lit up with the colors of Superman, I knew you were a special place.
He highlighted the warmth and spirit of the community, noting how local residents’ enthusiasm enhanced the filming experience. Gunn also acknowledged Cleveland’s historical significance as the birthplace of Superman’s creators, Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, adding a profound backdrop to the production.
In response to fans’ questions about the film’s progress, Gunn revealed that only a few weeks of filming remain, and they are getting close to wrapping up the shoot. ‘Superman’, originally titled ‘Superman: Legacy’, stars David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. This film marks Gunn’s first venture into the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) under DC Studios, alongside producer Peter Safran.
According to reports, the storyline explores Superman’s journey as he navigates his dual identity and wrestles with his alien origins alongside his upbringing on Earth. The film promises a fresh perspective on the iconic superhero with contemporary themes and character dynamics.
