An incident at GT Mall in Bengaluru has stirred controversy after an elderly man clad in a traditional dhoti was denied entry by security personnel, despite having tickets booked for a movie. In a video that surfaced online, the elderly man is seen outside the mall with his son, who recorded the ordeal.

According to reports, the security staff insisted that the elderly man change into pants to comply with mall entry policies. Despite explaining their situation, that they were traveling and unable to change clothes, the supervisor maintained adherence to the strict dress code.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage, with BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla criticizing the Karnataka government on social media platform ‘X’. Poonawalla’s comments also targeted the Karnataka Congress, alleging anti-farmer sentiments.

Following the incident, members of pro-Kannada and pro-farmer organizations staged protests, highlighting the perceived discrimination based on attire at public spaces.
