Low-lying areas in many parts of the district have been inundated due to heavy rains. In Karwar taluk also, due to torrential rains, water has flowed to Idur village near Chendia. The naval compound is located right where this water joins the sea. Thus, the villagers alleged that the problem has arisen due to rain water not going forward.
About 25 houses of the village were flooded. Every year this problem is happening and no one is coming forward to take action. Officials come and go to the place every rainy season under the pretense. People have expressed outrage that we have to spend our days always in the problem because we have not been given a permanent solution.
Many villages including Binaga and Chandya of Karwar taluk are facing problems due to rain. Hundreds of acres of this area are flooded. In the last few years, people have stopped farming and in some places, the areas where vegetables were growing have also been damaged by water.
