PDO Urges Vigilance Against Dengue Spread

Must read

In a proactive measure against the spread of infectious diseases like dengue, Kundana PDO Padmanabha highlighted the community’s role in preventing mosquito breeding. Addressing concerns about the Aedes mosquito, which thrives in stagnant water near homes, Padmanabha highlighted the risk of dengue transmission among residents.

The initiative, undertaken in Kundana village panchayat of Devanahalli taluk on Friday, involved regular disposal of village garbage bins and the application of fogging chemicals and insecticides in drains. These efforts aim to curb mosquito populations and prevent outbreaks of diseases like dengue.

Underlining the Gram Panchayat’s commitment to cleanliness, Padmanabha announced the introduction of a new chemical spraying machine across all villages. This initiative is part of a comprehensive strategy to combat dengue and malaria effectively.

Padmanabha stressed the importance of community participation, urging villagers to maintain cleanliness around their homes and prevent the accumulation of standing water in containers like drums, barrels, and pots. Mosquitoes, known to breed in such environments, pose a health risk, particularly during daylight hours when they are most active.

Highlighting the symptoms of dengue fever, Padmanabha advised immediate medical attention at the nearest government hospital or primary health center. While there is no specific medicine or vaccine for dengue, prompt diagnosis and appropriate treatment can mitigate its effects.

The initiative received support from local officials including Bill Collector Shanthakumar, Secretary Usha, and village panchayat staff, underscoring community-wide efforts in ensuring public health safety.
