Yadgir
In Yadgir district, Karnataka, a minor threw a three-month-old girl into a well after her proposal to the baby’s uncle was rejected, officials said. The infant, named Meenakshi, lived with her parents, Nagesh and Chittemma, in Ambedkar Layout, Yadgir city. According to police, the accused minor, a neighbor, had feelings for Yallappa, the baby’s paternal uncle.
When he turned down her advances, she persisted. Upset by his rejection, she seized an opportunity when no one was around and threw the baby into the well on June 6. When the family started searching for the child, the accused joined them and later suggested looking into the well, arousing suspicion.
Yadgir City police investigated and detained the minor girl after she confessed to the crime, citing her unrequited love for Yallappa as the motive.
