City Braces For Rainfall Amidst IMD’s Orange Alert

Must read

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Bengaluru and surrounding areas, as heavy rainfall is expected over the next five days. The alert covers Bengaluru City and its surroundings, including districts like Bengaluru Rural, Chikkaballapur, and others in southern Karnataka.

According to the IMD’s report, the forecast is based on synoptic meteorology indicating an off-shore trough along the south Gujarat-north Kerala coast. This weather pattern, combined with strong wind convergence over the region, is likely to bring significant rainfall to Bengaluru and neighboring districts.

From July 8th to 12th, Bengaluru can anticipate mostly cloudy skies with chances of moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas. The city may also experience sustained gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach around 27°C, with minimum temperatures dropping to 21°C during this period.

In addition to Bengaluru, other parts of Karnataka are also preparing for inclement weather. Coastal districts such as Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada are under the orange alert for very heavy rains and isolated extremely heavy showers.

Looking ahead, the IMD suggests that rainfall intensity may decrease post-July 13th, although moderate showers could persist across the state. Authorities advise residents and commuters to stay updated with weather advisories and take necessary precautions during this period of heightened rainfall activity.
