In preparation for the upcoming Moharram festival, both Hindu and Muslim communities in the entire area were eager. However, a week before the festival, an incident occurred in Kundawad where miscreants broke into a box containing deity idols and stole two of them.
Annually in Kundawad, during the Moharram festival, the deity is taken out and placed at the village’s Rajbeedi for five days as per tradition. This theft has dampened the spirits of devotees who were looking forward to celebrating Moharram with grandeur this year.
The stolen idols include those of God Alai, part of the Muharram festival rituals, kept inside a box along with five idols in total. This incident has caused suspicion within the village, where this deity is revered for numerous miracles and holds significance for hundreds of devotees.
A case has been filed at the Vidyanagar police station, and villagers have urged the police to apprehend the culprits before the festival begins in a week.
‘The lock of the room was broken by some thieves who stole the deity. A complaint has been lodged with the Vidyanagar police station, and they have visited, inspected the scene, and conducted an investigation,’ stated Bashir, a leader in the Muslim community.
