In response to recent floods in Sikkim, Army engineers from Trishakti Corps completed a 70-foot Bailey bridge across the Dikchu-Sanklang route within 72 hours. The construction began on June 23 despite continuous rain and technical challenges.

The bridge now connects villages previously isolated by floodwaters. It spans Dett Khola on the Dikchu-Sanklang axis, crucial for travel from Dikchu to Sanklang and onwards to Chungthang. The bridge facilitates transportation of essential supplies, including medical aid, to affected residents in Mangan district. State Secretary of Disaster Management and Forests Minister Pintso Namgyal Lepcha visited the site on June 27 to thank the Indian Army for their swift construction of the bridge. Many areas in North Sikkim remain without road access due to the recent floods.
