Provident Welworth City (PWC), Bengaluru’s second largest apartment complex, housing approximately 10-15,000 residents, is facing severe communal and administrative challenges. The layout plan prohibits religious structures, yet plans for a temple, led by Smt. Vidya Mishra and others, are underway against residents’ wishes, violating government rules. This has spurred demands from the Muslim community for a mosque, escalating communal tensions reminiscent of the DJ/KG Halli disturbances to address this problem and get justice they had held a press meet on Wednesday.
The Provident Welworth City Residents Welfare Association (PWCRWA) has been advocating for residents’ rights for 7-8 years. Despite District Magistrate orders addressing safety concerns like exposed electric wires and garbage, and a demand for an FIR against illegal actions, political pressure has stymied enforcement.
Enforcement of proper accountable bye-laws by PHL, Establishment of necessary infrastructure, including STP, water treatment, and BESCOM sub-station, Registration and fair election of the apartment association, Action against officials ignoring District Magistrate orders, Immediate government intervention and appointment of an honest administrator to ensure law compliance and prevent communal violence, these are the demands from the 3360 resident owners included.
PWCRWA urged CM Siddaramaiah and Home Minister to ensure spot inspections, enforce demolition of illegal structures, and provide police protection to prevent potential communal clashes. Compliance with RERA orders and addressing mismanagement by vested interest groups is critical for the safety and harmony of PWC residents.
