In a dramatic protest in Bengaluru, farmers utilized dung as a symbolic gesture during a rally demanding various rights and improvements. Led by retired Justice Santosh Hegde, thousands of farmers marched towards the DC office from Kanakapura Road, some even traveling in bullock carts.
The demonstrations highlighted grievances such as securing full land rights for agricultural lands in Bangalore Dakshina Taluk, resolving toll issues near Somanahalli, and constructing necessary infrastructure like the Kaggalipura bypass. They also called for immediate relief for Sakamma Barangay’s shanty dwellers and the release of withheld incentives for milk producers.
Simultaneously, BJP leaders staged a counter-protest against the Congress, marking 50 years since the Emergency and demanding apologies from Rahul Gandhi for his statements on Indira Gandhi. The political climate remains charged as both sides advocate their positions amid ongoing tensions.
