NEET Aspirants Say Little Faith In NTA Want Retest Option For All Candidates To Be Considered

New Delhi

Many medical aspirants are demanding a retest of NEET-UG 2024 due to allegations of irregularities, paper leaks, and a steep rise in the merit list. The Centre’s decision to cancel grace marks for 1,563 students has not alleviated their concerns.

Student bodies and youth wings of several political parties have been protesting nationwide, highlighting issues with the prestigious exam. This year, 67 students scored a perfect 720, a first in the National Testing Agency’s (NTA) history. Reports of paper leaks and other discrepancies have led many students to lose faith in the exam’s integrity.

Many students are calling for a thorough investigation into the paper leak allegations, while others see the retest option for 1,563 students as insufficient. Aheli Ghosh Hazra, a NEET aspirant from West Bengal, suggested a universal retest or a revaluation of all students’ marks, with additional preparation time.

Animesh, a NEET aspirant from Madhya Pradesh, echoed the call for a retest for all candidates and urged for a third-party probe. He believes the number of affected students is greater than reported.

Tejas Gaur of Delhi, who cleared the exam, is willing to retake it, believing the issue affects more than 1,563 students. Kapil Gupta, founder of NEETPrep.com, warned that students might score lower in a retest due to post-exam inertia.

Major General Ramesh Raina (retd), former Managing Director of Army Welfare Education Society, empathized with affected students and parents, emphasizing the need to hold officials accountable.
