A case has been registered against a man after his female friend died in a car accident in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district, Maharashtra, three days ago, an official reported on Thursday. The man faces charges under Indian Penal Code section 304 (A) for causing death by negligence. He had given the car keys to the woman without verifying if she had a driving license, the official stated.

The incident occurred on Monday afternoon when Shweta Survase, 23, accidentally hit the accelerator while the car was in reverse gear. Her friend, Suraj Mule, was filming her at the time, according to police. The car slid back, broke through a crash barrier, and fell into a valley in the Sulibhanjan area. Rescuers reached the scene after an hour, but Shweta was declared dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

On Tuesday, a case was filed against Mule for alleged negligence leading to death, confirmed an officer from Khultabad police station. We will be issuing a notice to the accused as per legal guidelines, he added.

Shweta’s cousin, Priyanka Yadav, has accused Mule of planning the murder. She claimed that they were informed about Shweta’s death five to six hours after the accident. She never made or posted videos on social media. The accused planned the murder and took her 30-40 km away from the city, she told reporters.
