Chief Minister Siddaramaiah addressed students honored for their achievements in SSLC and PUC at Dr. BR Ambedkar Bhavan within the premises of the Social Welfare Department, Karnataka Residential Educational Institutions Association. He underscored the state’s commitment to expanding educational opportunities, citing the inception of Morarji residential schools in rural areas through the state budget. Since then, the government has consistently opened new Morarji schools, bringing the current total to 833 under the Department of Social Welfare, with 946 including those managed by the minority department.

Reflecting on his own journey, Siddaramaiah attributed his rise to the opportunity education provided, contrasting it with the limited prospects he might have faced otherwise. He lamented the persistence of caste divisions despite historical efforts by figures like Buddha and Basavanna to combat them, noting a concerning rise in caste consciousness among the educated populace.

The event also saw the presence of Legislative Council Chairman Basavaraja Horatti, MLA Rizwan Arshad, MLC Sudam Das, and departmental officials. Siddaramaiah’s remarks highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to promote education and emphasized the importance of educational institutions in fostering social equality and opportunity for all students across Karnataka.
