Drive For Construction Of Monkey Forest To Feed Monkeys In Anjanadri

 A group of like-minded youth of Gangavati has now come forward to alleviate the lack of food for the monkeys in the environment around Anjanadri, which is famous as the birthplace of Hanuman and an important religious site of the taluk.

Anjanadri, a natural site of hills in hundreds of hectares around Anegondi, seems to be a tailor-made habitat for thousands of monkeys. This army of monkeys is facing food problem on many occasions including summer. Realizing this, the youth of with humanity, Kishkindha Yuva Charan Balaga, Charan Balaga, Kishkindha Yuva Sena and Sarvodaya Rural Development Organization of Koppal have taken the initiative to nurture fruit trees.

For this, Kishkindha Vana Abhiyan has been ceremonially launched at Hanumanahalli for the construction of a thick monkey forest. A campaign to plant and nurture more than 800 plants that provide different types of fruits and nuts has started. In a programme, construction of a monkey forest was launched at Rishimukha Parvata in Hanumanahalli near Anjanadri. More than 50 youth participated in this campaign and removed 226 potholes and planted them in a single day.

GR Arjun, the coordinator of the campaign said, the campaign will be held for two months every Saturday and Sunday. Those who are interested can participate in our campaign. There are few fruit trees in Kishkindha hilly area and this effort is being made to save the monkeys. The only food given by the tourists is the food for the monkeys. So we have made a plan to build a monkey forest, he said.
