Criticism was directed at the police department by MLA Dr. Bharath Shetty for filing a B report on the Namaz case, questioning the filing of a report without a primary investigation. It was noted that the officer who filed the suo motu case had been sent on holiday and the case was revoked.
In a media address on Friday, Dr. Bharath Shetty expressed concerns over the Congress party’s inclination towards appeasement politics. The question raised was whether it is acceptable for anyone to block roads and offer Namaz. In contrast, cultural programs like Yakshagana require prior permission. The comparison between Namaz and cultural events was highlighted, emphasizing the sudden gathering and prayer aspect of Namaz. The lodging and subsequent revocation of a suo motu case, with the officer being sent on leave, raised eyebrows. Questioning how a B report could be filed without conducting a primary investigation, Dr. Bharath Shetty deemed it a political conspiracy.
The necessity for the Congress government to address such issues promptly was stressed. Failure to do so could result in similar incidents recurring across the city. Dr. Bharath Shetty voiced support for Sharan Pumpwell’s query and urged the Congress government to respond to his questions. He also expressed concern over officers working under pressure and deviating from legal protocols.
