Allu Arjun Recalls How ‘Arya’ Became A Turning Point In His Career

As Allu Arjun gears up for his highly anticipated film ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’. The film is one of the most-awaited films that will be released this year. But Pushpa is not the first film through which the actor and the director. The makers rose to fame with the cult classic film ‘Arya’, which was released in 2004. Directed by Sukumar, ‘Arya’ was a turning point in Arjun’s career, earning him fame and a special place in the hearts of his fans.

Throwback to the time when the makers organized an event celebrating the 20th anniversary of Arya on May 7, where he shared about his journey and how he got the role.

Before Arya, Arjun made his acting debut with Gangotri in 2003, directed by K Raghavendra Rao. Despite the films success, Arjun revealed that he struggled to get good roles afterwards due to his looks. Speaking at the event, he shared how, despite Gangotri being a hit, he felt it was a personal failure as he couldnt make a lasting impression in the industry. He described this period as going from 0 to -100, feeling like a nobody despite his initial success.

The pivotal moment in Arjuns career came when he met Sukumar at a film screening. Despite Sukumar being a debut director, Arjun was impressed with the script for Arya. He recounted how megastar Chiranjeevi also endorsed the script, further validating his decision to take on the role. Arjun expressed his desire to star in a cool film like Ravi Tejas Idiot and saw Arya as his opportunity to do so. The song Thakadhimithom from the film allowed him to showcase his dancing skills, which played a crucial role in the films success.
