The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has delivered welcome news to Namma Metro passengers by launching a fifth train service on the Yellow Line from Saturday morning, coinciding with the celebration of Karnataka Rajyotsava. The new service aims to improve connectivity and ease passenger movement on one of the city’s busiest routes.
With the introduction of this additional train, Yellow Line services will now operate every 15 minutes, significantly reducing waiting times for commuters. Previously, only four trains were operational, with intervals of around 19 minutes between each service. The addition of the fifth train marks a substantial improvement in frequency, promising a smoother and faster travel experience for thousands of daily passengers.
BMRCL officials said the expansion was part of their ongoing effort to enhance commuter convenience and operational efficiency across the network. The decision comes at a time when the city is witnessing a surge in metro ridership, particularly during peak hours. Shorter intervals between trains are expected to ease congestion and provide a more comfortable journey for commuters traveling between key destinations along the Yellow Line.
Commuters have welcomed the move, noting that it will help reduce crowding and improve punctuality, especially during office hours. The initiative also aligns with BMRCL’s broader plans to strengthen metro services and extend connectivity to new areas as part of its future expansion projects.
The timing of the announcement on Kannada Rajyotsava added a celebratory note to the day, symbolizing progress in Bengaluru’s urban transport infrastructure and reflecting the state’s commitment to improving public mobility.
