A complainant hailing from Kolkata involves a minor girl, aged 15-16 years old, who had come to the city on search of a job. Her mother was ill at home and she had come to Bengaluru through an acquaintance to help her in her difficulties. Unfortunately, she was forced into prostitution when she was asked to get a housework.

Muneer, the girl, a native of Kolkata, who was known to the minor girl’s family, had come to Bengaluru on the advice of Shampa Begum. The girl was brought to Muneer’s house in Mahadeshwara Nagar of Byadarahalli police station. The girl, who had come to see some housework, was shocked to see the work here, as she was given a job of prostitution. Many times the girl begged them not to do this job, but to give her as a housekeeping job, but they mocked saying no one will give a job, and that is why she has to do this.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided Muneer’s house and rescued the girl. Muneer, Shampa Begum, who worked as a pimp, and Rupa, a local woman, were arrested. A case has been registered at Byadarahalli police station in this regard. Pimp Muneer and Shampa Begum are suspected to be from Bangladesh. However, the accused have an Aadhaar card with a Kolkata address and the matter is also being investigated.
