An air-conditioned electric coffin was presented to the public of Bidalur village panchayat in Kasaba Hobli, Devanahalli taluk, in a noteworthy move by the gram panchayat president, S.P. Muniraju. This initiative serves as a model for other gram panchayats in the taluk. The coffin, costing ₹85,000, was funded through the panchayat grant and is aimed at easing the burden on families awaiting the arrival of relatives after a death, eliminating the need to spend thousands on private hospital facilities. The facility is open to all villagers of Bidalur Gram Panchayat, with a nominal fee of ₹1,000 for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and ₹2,000 for the general category. This fee covers maintenance and cleanliness expenses. The presentation ceremony witnessed the presence of various officials including Bidalur Gram Panchayat Development Officer Siddharaj, Secretary Chandrasekhar, Member Nagaraj, Sibbamadi Devaraj, Narayanaswamy, Shankar, Narasimhaiah, along with villagers. The coffin provision aims to provide a practical and affordable solution for the community during times of bereavement.
