It has been alleged that 380 workers were suddenly fired from Shivsagar sugar factory in Udupudi village of Ramadurga taluk without giving any notice.

For more than ten years, 380 workers were working in Shivsagar Sugar Factory. However, in 2017 itself, Shivsagar Sugar Factory and Agro Product Limited were closed due to lapses in the financial affairs of the management board. Later Arihanta Sugar Industries was running the sugar factory on lease for the last three years. Now Arihanta sugar factory has been accused of selling the factory to another person.

Just four days ago, the newcomers bought the sugar factory. 380 workers who were working in the factory were taken over by the new owners, and they were suddenly fired from their jobs. The workers, who are not in a position to do so, have appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to provide them with justice.

Worker Basavaraja Lingareddy told the media that we are permanent employees of the factory and have been working for the last 15 years. But now we have been fired without any reason. So, the new owner has to continue us. He warned that he will continue the struggle until service security is achieved. Later, hundreds of workers submitted a petition to Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil, demanding to continue in the service.
